Here’s just a couple of the everyday artifacts that are covered in detail in Before the Mast: Life and Death Aboard the Mary Rose.

The Mary Rose in general is one of my favorite sources for finding out about everyday stuff from the 16th century. It’s an amazing time capsule that’s just filled with all sorts of regular things from just one day in 1545. So I’m really glad to see that Before the Mast is returning to print, because it’s such a great resource for learning about all kinds of different items in detail.
